Dee Riles Bielecki, 73, wife of Andrew Bielecki, died Saturday evening, July 8, 2006, at the Greenville Memorial Medical Center.
A native of old Piedmont, SC, Mrs. Bielecki was the daughter of the late Lena Bowen Riles Smith. Dr. Bielecki was educated in Piedmont Elementary School, Greenville High School, Furman University, BA; University of Puerto Rico, MA; University of Hartford, M.Ed; and Fordham University, Ph.D. . She was presented with an Honorary Doctor if Letters by North Greenville College in May, 2004, where she was the graduation speaker.
She received first scholarship from Rogers C. Peace.
Mrs. Bielecki was a current board trustee of School District of Oconee County, representing District One. Also at the time of her passing, she was serving a second term as Commissioner, SC Commission on National and Community Service, and as a Deacon of Seneca Presbyterian Church.
She was an active member of the Salem Lions Club, The Marine Corps League Women’s Auxiliary, and the National Association of Retired Federal Employees (NARFE). She retired after thirty-two years as teacher of dependent children of military and federal employees in Puerto Rico, and after fifteen years as professor of English at North Greenville College. Mrs. Bielecki was also previously employed as Editor of the Greenville Piedmont Newspaper.

Memorial services were held at Seneca Presbyterian Church, 115 W. South First Street, on Wednesday, July 12, 2006, at 2:00 p.m.
