We must attempt the impossible;
To be as much as we can be,
We must dream of being more

REGISTER TODAY! ahsalumni.com

Fellow Pirates,

The number of alumni who have registered for this summer’s AHSAA reunion and fundraiser has surpassed 200 with just under 100 days left for kickoff!  If you are practicing the ever present Puerto Rican mantra of “¿Cual es la prisa?”, now would be a good time to change that tactic.  We have strong financial commitments to the hotel due and we WILL have to change or registration rates this month.  As I said before we have 93 days left until the reunion starts – what are you going to be thinking 97 days from now when the reunion is over?  Will you be basking in the glory of newly made memories or banging your head on the wall asking “why did I miss another one”?

When you think of your time at Antilles High School what do you remember?  Do you remember the original school at the Naval Base in Old San Juan?  Or do you think the Old school with the Palm tree lined driveway leading up to it?  Are you one of the youngsters that enjoyed the central air conditioning of the newer school?  Were you the oldest sibling that paved the way for your family to enjoy the things you enjoyed or the things you missed?  Do you ever hear that errant Coqui that would always sneak into Mrs. Bland’s class?  How about Mr. Bush’s Orange Volkswagen parked under the tree?  Is it the band or the pep rallies?  Is it yelling V-I-C-T-O-R-Y so your class could win that silly spirit stick for a week?  Maybe it’s following Coach Franco into the girl’s locker room for the pre-game ritual of praying (back when that was okay). I always remember the sound our cleats made on the road as we walked from the school to Maxie Williams to take on our next victim.   Bomb threats, frogs in the ketchup, dances in the cafeteria, Disco Patín?  A WHITE Christmas Dance in the Puerto Rico?  Whether your memories are good or bad, your time at AHS helped mold who you are today.  Do you want to rekindle them or let them fade?  I made my choice.

Here’s is the tote board by decades:

1950’s – 4 (Bring out the Vitalis one more time guys and join the party!)

1960’s – 35 (Come on surely the LOVE generation can do better than that)

1970’s – 44 (Is the current oils situation giving you flashbacks?)

1980’s – 110 (That’s a lot of POLO shirts with popped collars.  And…every class except for ’87 is represented)

1990’s – 27 (Are you in shock that your 20th is around the corner?)

2000’s – 2 (Just tell your parents this mandatory for college and slip it in the tuition bill)

Faculty – 4 (You thought you were out numbered when there were 15 of us in class?)

Anyway, now is definitely the time to register!  Click on this link and stop procrastinating already: http://www.ahsalumni.com/register2008v2.html   We are still looking for willing volunteers to help out, or Alumni that would like to help us sponsor this event.  Please contact Lisa Rivera Journey0402@aol.com  if you are interested in helping out.

We all look forward to meeting you this summer!

On Behalf of the AHSAA BOARD,

 Kiko Morillo AHS ‘83

AHSAA President
